Project Cargo Expanding Services - Thriving on the challenges of moving unconventional cargo, Tandem Global Logistics has established a Project Cargo Department from which to manage specialty cargo transportation. Project cargo encompasses not only freight that is by weight or dimension unable to be transported in standard ocean containers, but also cargo that is ro-ro capable, of high value or requires security oversight. Al Cianfrocca, with better than 30 years of experience in ocean carriage and freight forwarding management, heads our Project Cargo Department. Al brings to our service not only the tactical knowledge required to move out of gauge goods, but a skilled sense of reconciling size and space. Supported here in the U.S. and overseas by able Tandem Global Logisitcs’ air and ocean staff, we are ready to partner on your next “project” shipment.

Our View - We view Project Cargo shipment as a science that uniquely combines the factors of time management, product knowledge, team building and execution. The time span from shipment feasibility, to product manufacture, to actual export can be years. Given this reality, we provide freight quotations that reasonably project what will be actual costs. Over the interval between initial offer and cargo booking we are researching inland and air/ocean carrier routing development and growth of airport/port capabilities that might reduce transit or estimated transport charges. Product knowledge is essential to understand the mechanics of lift and handling equipment capacity. Origin site and port visits are normally part of the project plan. Because experts in all facets of the transport have to be well coordinated, for ocean shipment team building between riggers, inland carriers, roadway escorts, multi-level government oversight departments, ocean carriers, longshoremen and ports authorities are among participating entities that must be synchronized. If there is an execution failure that causes the cargo to miss the scheduled lading or on-carriage appointment, delay for the next transport opportunities could severely disrupt installation and production at destination.

Recent Successes - Bulldozers to Tripoli, pleasure boats to St. Thomas, rail laying equipment to Iraq, part-charter to Guatemala and submarine decking structures to the United Kingdom have all been among our recent, successfully managed Project Cargo shipments. We invite you to contact us to see how we can make your next project cargo shipment a pleasant memory!
