Canada, Mexico, China Face New Import Tariffs

On February 1, President Trump signed executive orders imposing additional tariffs on imports from China, Canada, and Mexico. However, he has agreed to a 30-day pause on the proposed 25% tariffs for Canada and Mexico after both countries took steps to enhance border security and combat drug trafficking.

Meanwhile, a 10% tariff on Chinese imports remains set to take effect on February 4. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued guidance to the trade community regarding the implementation of these additional duties on imports from China.

A revised Executive Order is expected to be released soon, formally announcing March 1 as the potential new effective date for tariffs on Canadian and Mexican imports.
