President Donald Trump’s executive order, effective May 2, removes de minimis treatment for goods from China and Hong Kong. For mail packages valued under $800, an initial duty of 30% or $25 per item will apply. Starting June 1, this will increase to $50 per item if the valuation is not reported, with certain informational goods exempted.
