Potential Tariffs Target Countries Buying Venezuelan Oil

On March 24, 2025, United States President Trump issued Executive Order that allows for the potential imposition of 25% tariffs on imports from countries that purchase Venezuelan oil. The Secretary of State and the Secretary of Commerce will determine which countries will be subject to these tariffs. Once implemented, the tariffs will remain in effect until one year after the country’s last import of Venezuelan oil or until the Department of Commerce decides to lift them earlier.
