ILA and USMX Reach Tentative Six-Year Agreement

The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) have reached a tentative six-year contract agreement for East and Gulf Coast port workers, according to a joint statement released Wednesday night. The deal seeks to balance modernization efforts with job protection, addressing key concerns over automation while ensuring port operations remain efficient and competitive.

The agreement successfully averted a potential strike initially scheduled for January 15, guaranteeing uninterrupted operations at major ports.

Final details will be determined in forthcoming negotiations and the ratification process
