Shipping Rates Steady Despite ILA Strike Fears

The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) are preparing to negotiate a new contract, with the current agreement set to expire on September 30.The ILA has voiced concerns over the technology used and is demanding wage increases, among other issues.
Despite worries about a possible ILA strike, transpacific shipping rates have remained stagnant, with east coast rates falling by 11% and west coast rates dropping by 9%.
